Lots of Random Things

1. My subbing position ended on Friday, which means that I am finally FREE! Tomorrow I have given myself a non-workday to run errands and make appointments and schedule summer session at the PA.

2. Since I cannot get a job for a month, I am looking into volunteer opportunities and probably babysitting my nextdoor neighbor, who is going to have surgery and is going to be housebound for the entire month of July.

3. I am going to Puerto Rico the first week of July. An insane move on my part that I can't really afford right now, but it is with friends from high school and i haven't been on a vacation since forever.

4. I love Google's How Tos of the Day. Today's How To: How to Grow a Garden in a Bottle made me very interested, and think I am going to try it out tomorrow. When I subbed for 7th grade science for 2 days, they were growing all sorts of different kinds of plants, and I am excited that I can do my own experiment.

5. Yesterday, I driving on the backroads of my township. I was in a hurry. There was NO ONE on the road with me. I was pulled over by a very old cop for not stopping completely at a stop sign. Okay, so I didn't stop completley. But seriously, the cops have nothing better do in this town than to pull me over for that? It was my first EVER traffic violation, so he let me off wiht a warning, it would've been a $180.00 ticket, and htat would've pissed me off. To make things even more annoying, as the cop was checking my driving record, another cop pulled up beside us in the Chick 'Filet Parking lot to chit chat. Yes, that's right. The two cops sat there and talked for about 20 mintues as I waited in my car. Of course, I didn't say anything, because I didn't want to piss them off, but SERIOUSLY. I'm sure there was someone speeding on the highway right across from us that they could've written up instead. Ugh.

To make matters worse, on the way home from visiting a friends house who lives on a farm, I hit a dear on the highway. Technically, the person in front of me hit it, and i didn't have room to move over, so I just rehit it. There was smoke coming from the other person's car, so I pulled over and helped them out. Thankfully, my car is just fine. So far. I'm getting it looked at anyways, just in case. I need it inspected before I drive out west, so it's basically killing two birds with one stone. But really. Yesterday was NOT a good driving day.

6. I went out to dinner with my roommate from college last night and her identical twin sister, and we realized that while they had both been to my home countless times, I hadn't been to there's yet. So I drove 40 miles to the middle of nowhere to where they live: in this AWESOME farm house that's over 150 years old, on this picturesque farm with horses and cows. And they have a stray cat litter that had just had kittens, and they were SO CUTE.

It made me want to live on a farm. Except for it was really, really quiet, which is something I myself will have to get used to when I move to New Mexico.

Babylon

Title: Babylon, Chapter One

Series: 1/?

Pairing/Characters: Cappie/Casey, Liam/O.C., Rusty, Evan.

Rating: PG-13 to be on the safe side.

Summary: (AU) Liam Cartwright has never really given much thought to the relationship between his mother and Cappie. Until now.

Note: Uh. Okay, so this is kind of a spin-off from Knocked Up, except not really. I just really wanted to write a fic where Casey is pregnant, and this is what my muse responded with. And, as another side note, I really do like Evan Chambers. Which is possibly why I made him such a douchebag.

Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Greek in anyway. The inspiration from the opening dialogue came from mad_martha’s fic Confessions. If you like really great Ron/Harry slashness, I suggest you head her way. And yes, I did receive her permission to go ahead with it.

Writer's Block: Saturday Night

How are your Saturday nights different now than they were five years ago?

View 500 Answers

Five years ago, I was a sophomore in college. Which meant I was probably living the life as a college student, possibly at a party, or a recital/performance (music major=mandatory concert credits)/something fun that requires energy. Especially seeing as now I am too exhausted and poor to go out and party anymore, and my nights are reduced to dinner/coffee/movies out with friends.

I miss college. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat.

Well, this post ended up being way more depressing than I anticipated.

 Title: Knocked Up

Author: liblyn52

Story Summary: Just when Casey was sure her life couldn’t get any more complicated.

Series: Standalone for now, possibly prologue to a longer story.

Spoilers: Season One

Ratings: PG-13

Pairing: None so far

Disclaimer: If I owned GREEK in any way, do you really think I’d be sitting here writing a disclaimer for a fanfic?

John Adams mini series

Being completely exhausted today after work, I had no desire to go out drinking with my friends, or really to do anything but lay around on the couch and watch television. Which is what I did, and ended up being sucked into the John Adams mini series on HBO.

I happened to catch the first part of the series, although it was about a half hour in before I started watching. I was hooked within five minutes. What hooked me was my love for all things Laura Linnely, because I really usually have no interest in educational mini series. I mean, I teach all day... and when I'm watching television, I like to watch mindless crap like the Bachelor, Dancing wtih the Stars, American Idol, etc. But after watching this, and then catching the second part on a different HBO channel (yay for FIOS On Demand), I have decided that a) the American Revolution is possibly my favorite part of American History, and b)John Adams is becoming my favorite President ever.

I am borrowing the book from my dad, and am anxious to start reading it.

The history behind the Cappie/Casey/Evan triangle, as I have it played out in my head.

Freshman year: Casey and Cappie date

Mid freshman year: Casey and Cappie break up

During all of this, Casey, Evan, and Cappie are good friends. Evan and Cappie are roommates.

Sophomore year: Evan and Cappie have chosen to be roommates for a second year. Casey and Evan get together. Cappie and Evan get into a huge fight, Cappie moves out.

Junior year: current year / triangle

Why things are so complicated: Casey, Evan, and Cappie were all good friends Freshman year. Cappie and Casey only dated six months, but things weren’t over with them when they broke up—at the time, Casey wanted Zeta Beta more than she wanted Cappie. They could've been in love-- they didn't have the chance to find out. After the break up, she and Evan grew closer as friends. Begin to date over the summer of freshman/sophomore year, unbeknownst to Cappie, who does not find out until the beginning of sophomore year. A huge fight breaks out, unforgivable words are said. Evan, who knows that Casey still isn’t over Cappie, tells Cappie he’ll never be good enough for Casey, that she has never and will never take him seriously. Cappie responds by saying he had Casey first, that she’s only with him because of what he can do for her. They get in a fist fight—Casey goes to Cappie first, leading to Evan’s insecurities, but comes back to Evan. Cappie moves out the next day. Cappie and Evan’s friendship is severed forever.

So many ideas for a fic running through my mind.....

American Idol

Okay. So back when American Idol first started, I was a freshman in college. I was a music major, and I remember hanging around the common area watching the show on t.v. with all my other music major friends. I was completely addicted to the show up until Season 3, and then it got kind of old. I haven't been watching it regularly, but a couple of weeks ago I happened to tune in right before David Archuleta sang Imagine, which was seriously the best Idol performance I've heard (again, I haven't been watching regularly) since Aitken's Solitaire back in Season 2. This is a little late, but for all of those who haven't had the pleasure, here is the clip.
